Om Prakash Yadav is a politician and the current Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Narnaul constituency in Haryana. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Yadav was born on 23 March 1963 in Laheji, Siwan district of Bihar to Ramanand Yadav and Simato Devi. He completed his bachelor of Science degree from DAV College, Siwan. Yadav married Radhika Devi on 1 May 1980, with whom he has five daughters and a son. He is a resident of Malviya Nagar in Siwan district.
Yadav began his political career as a member of the Janata Dal (United) party. He was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1995 and 2000. In 2009, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Siwan constituency. He joined the BJP in 2014 and was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from the Siwan constituency in 2019.
In 2024, Yadav was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly from the Narnaul constituency. He is currently the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Backward Classes and Antyodaya(SEWA)(Attached with CM) in the Haryana government.
Yadav is a controversial figure. He has been accused of corruption and nepotism. He has also been criticized for his inflammatory speeches.
Despite the controversies, Yadav remains a popular figure in Narnaul. He is seen as a strong leader who can get things done. He is also seen as a champion of the poor and downtrodden.
Yadav is likely to play a significant role in Haryana politics in the years to come. He is a potential candidate for the Chief Minister’s post in the next Assembly elections.
